Hi everyone! This week sees me part of MaaiDesign’s blog tour of her new fabric line – See You at Six!
This new line is rayon and there are 12 different colour / pattern options to choose from. Being self-taught, my knowledge of fabric is sketchy at best, so I was open to the opportunity of sewing a dress in rayon especially as Maaike described it’s main benefit as ‘drape’.
I chose ‘Cracks – Black and white’ and was not disappointed. I call this my David Jones dress as it feels like a fresh variation on their famous Houndstooth pattern. The fabric is beautiful on the skin, drapes as promised, but doesn’t compromise on weight, so no need for lining.
My dress is the Myrtle by Colette Designs. I’ve wanted to make this pattern for so long and it was the perfect choice for the time-poor seamstress, as it is a quick sew. Myrtle can be made in woven or knit and the rayon lent itself perfectly. I have a weakness for cowl necklines and my dress does not disappoint! Love a bit of asymmetry!
The waist of this dress is elasticised (win win!), but I like to add a belt to finish the look.
I can see Myrtle out for cocktails (see you at 6!) or making an impression at work, which is where mine will get its outings. So what are you waiting for??? Go get you some rayon now!

thanks Caz! Yep it’s a keeper. And easy to sew! I also love the bias binding around the back neckline and armholes – mine are mustard – a cute feature no-one sees but me!

Stunning. Such a perfect pairing of fabric and pattern. The drape is shown beautifully with the neckline and skirt and I’m really loving the varying angles of the check. It is kinda like a new wave, edgy version of David Jones!
