It’s March and I know we’re on borrowed time with the weather, because technically it’s Autumn, even though the days are still warm. Each weekend I have been scrambling to get us out doing ‘summery things’ before the chill in the air arrives and swimming is off the agenda for another year. So in a last salute to my favourite season, I show you our Makana Mermaid Tail which was included as a pattern in One Thimble’s Issue 16 magazine.
Some years it is really hard to find lightweight cardigans or jumpers for cooler days and evenings in summer. This is one of those years, so it was great to try my hand at the Bonfire Jacket from Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns and Issue 5 of One Thimble sewing magazine.
Buggy has been in my ear for some time now to make her a floor-length dress. Actually, I know she has something flamboyant in mind with layers of tulle and chiffon, sure why not? – we may have drooled over some pictures together once and if I get my act together this dreamy outfit will become reality. In the meantime, I thought the Loli dress from Issue 14 of One Thimble, was an excellent place to start her maxi dress wardrobe, using this bright floral spring fabric I picked up eons ago.
It’s early days for me sewing knit fabric. Some people swear by it and others like me are uncertain. I’d held off for so long because of the excessive knitwear that is cheap and readily available in commercial children’s clothes. But this year I’m keen to make use of my One Thimble subscription and thought I’d try my hand at two quick sew projects.
