Foxy Coat – Twig and Tale

Hello readers! Yes I’ve been missing in action. My poor blog has fallen behind that large psychological wall where the gym pass and last year’s ballet classes are also hiding. Most days I consider pole-vaulting the wall and addressing all three situations and then it all seems too hard!

However, I still sew and I love recording my makes, so I rummaged through some photos today and found Hamster’s Foxy coat which is fitting for today’s wet cold day.

Dinosaur Coat by Twig + Tale

Winter has arrived and it’s time to get out the Dinosaur Coat from Twig + Tale that I finished making at the tail end of last winter.

New Pattern Release: Twig + Tale Forester Coat

Twig + Tale has released their new pattern this week – a men’s and women’s Forester Coat. I had the great opportunity of sewing up the jacket pre-release and although my husband possibly owns more clothes than me, it was a great opportunity to finally sew him something of substance beyond slippers and PJ pants.

New Pattern: Trailblazer Vest

Twig + Tale have released a new pattern this week called the Trailblazer vest. The vest is available in sizes 12m – 14 years and yes the adults version was released just the other day so you can make matchy-matchy sets if you wish! I decided to sew one a little roomy at size 6 to see us through a few cool spring days but mostly so it would have plenty of room next year over a jumper in winter.

Wild Things Hottie Covers

We recently got back from visiting my sister and her family in Sweden. In the lead-up to the trip I suddenly decided to make some hot water bottle covers, or hotties, for my nieces, thinking they’d make the perfect gift for a cold climate. In the end their house is so lovely and insulated and cosy, but the girls loved them and they are also perfect for sore tummies when you need someone to cuddle (Buggy gave them a little test drive before we gifted them!).

Driftwood Blouse & Pixie Hat

Twig + Tale has introduced me to the soothing art of embroidery. I love that a hobby like sewing can keep on giving as my skills develop and my focus changes as I become exposed to new styles and techniques. I had clumped embroidery and cross stitch and tapestry into the same bag, thinking it was dated and time consuming and not my thing. But seeing everyone’s makes in the Twig + Tale Chat FB group I realised there was an avenue for me that is whimsical and relaxed, adding sweet detail to sewn garments.

Game of Thrones Night’s Watch Boots

It’s winter in the Southern Hemisphere and so a Friday night dinner with a bottle of wine and the fire roaring is not uncommon at our place. However, last weekend a relaxed catch up with some friends soon snowballed into a seventh-season-anticipation Game of Thrones dinner party!

Twig + Tale Cosy Toes Tour!

I’m on a roll here sewing up the latest Twig + Tale pattern for the Cosy Toes tour. Yep more Twig + Tale because Lisa is on some sort of inspiration mojo over in New Zealand, whipping out new patterns like there is no tomorrow! She’s had kids footwear in her repertoire for some time, but this winter the Tie Back Boots have had an upgrade to fit bigger people!

New Pattern Bundle: Pixie Pants

Lisa from Twig + Tale has done it again! A gorgeous pattern of yesteryear that is now more versatile than ever as this week she launches the upgraded Pixie Pants pattern and expansion pack. I was lucky enough to test the revisions on the original knee-length Pixie Pants and in later posts I’ll share my suspender version which is one of the many new options.
