On Friday, Tadah! patterns launched their new pattern the Tea Party Dress. As part of the testing group I managed to eek out two dresses last week which is loads for me compared to some of the talent who made dress after dress after dress!!! Jealous of their sewing time!
Lauren has included a tonne of options for this dress including 4 necklines, 4 back options, two styles of skirt, three sleeve/strap options and a high or low armhole. Phew!! That means making over 190 iterations of the pattern I believe! Oh to have that sort of time!!
So, to start with I chose the V-neck…
And the racer back…
With the low armholes.
I had bought this fabulous summery fabric – Bay Breeze by Dear Stella – a while ago and although I had 2 metres, it’s not enough to make a full circle skirt for size 5 (and I needed size 7 length for my long-legged girl). But there’s still enough twirl and kick in the straight skirt for some frolicking.
The dress is easily constructed, a lined bodice and then a matter of cinching in the skirt and attaching and your done!
I think the nice thing about all the options in is that you can style it up to be more ‘princessy’ or keep it simple like this one for a perfect summer play dress.
And look, if you didn’t fully get how delicious that racer back is, let me show you again!
🙂 🙂 🙂
A bit about the photos: yes in the shot above that is rain on Bug’s shoulders. It was a cold and wet day poor thing! The weather being crap, this was actually attempt two at a photoshoot. After the first one failed miserably outside a restaurant with the wrong camera, this one needed to work, so yes that is a bowl full of lollies.
But it works, right?
Bugs is learning ballet and so it seems that most photos need to involve a few classical steps to show off the dress to its full potential. And I don’t mind a bit.
xx

This fabric and this pattern are perfection together. So cute how kids incorporate new interests in everything they do.

I know, I loved sewing a racer back for the first time. Not so good for sun protection but totally flattering style all the same!
